Scrappy Sea Horse Silhouette on Burlap

I decided to challenge myself by "shopping" my own craft supply....to see if I could make something...anything....for FREE......  A big thank you to Laura at The Turquoise Home for this awesome "Scrappy" Idea!    Only using what I had on hand I was able to put together this cute piece of wall art for my powder bath.  A "Scrappy Sea Horse Silhouette" on burlap and mounted on a piece of scrap wood.

Let me start by saying I took great pictures of this simple project the whole way through.  It was only when I was done I realized that I didn't have a memory card in my camera....so nothing got recorded!

To make this, I did a Google Images search for Sea Horse Silhouette and printed this one out.

I then used Mod Podge to glue the picture to the backside of a piece of scrap fabric.

When it was dry, I cut out the shape.
(Doing it this way made the fabric slightly stiff and easy to cut.)

Once it was cut out, the paper peeled right off the back of the fabric.

I painted a scrap board with off-white chalk paint and used
Mod Podge to place a scrap piece of burlap in place.

ARE YOU STARTING TO SEE WHY I CALLED THIS A "SCRAPPY" Sea Horse????

I used matte Mod Podge again to glue down the seahorse, brushing it on liberally, front and back.

When it was dry I applied furniture tacks to the four corners for a more finished look.

Voila.....

There you have it.... a simple project with a FREE price tag.....
....and THAT, I like!

Do you ever "shop" your craft supplies to create something for FREE?

Sharing the love at these great parties!:
