God is Great Prayer - Paper Mounted on Wood

God is GREAT and this year I have so much to be thankful for.  I count each of you that take the time to read my little 'ole blog as a blessing!  So thank you, thank you, thank you....

I was recently contacted by a client who asked me to create a chalkboard print sign for her using the prayer, "God is good, God is Great..."  I wanted to share with you the process I used to do this.

Each year, with the commercialism of Christmas coming at us from every possible angle, like many others, I struggle to keep the true meaning of the holiday at the forefront of my thoughts.    So today, I've created this cute chalkboard printable as a reminder for my family and I where our hearts and thoughts should be centered.

With the days getting shorter and colder -  and winter fast approaching, I set out to find some sweaters at Goodwill that I could upcycle.

I've been wanting to paint a piece of furniture green for some time, but haven't really been inspired with the right piece. 

That was.....until I found this antique dresser last weekend.  I went to Home Depot to check out the selection of green paint and fell in love with Behr's "Happy Camper" green....

UPcycled Tahoe Blue Media Center

Just finished this little beauty over the weekend.

I get the best feeling when a project comes to life EXACTLY as I envisoned it would.   In blog-land, this vintage dresser-turned-Media Center doesn't seem like all that much of a stretch....but now that I'm working with Mr. Fix-It on projects....I have a lot of convincing to do.  He is a carpenter by trade - even though he doesn't do that for a living - and I am a visionary - with no carpentry skills.... So, together we make a good team.  I just have to say "trust me" - a lot!

That was ONE BUSY YEAR for me!

Vintage 1950's TV Cabinet UPCYCLE!

I found this Vintage 1950's TV Cabinet at Goodwill last spring for $99.99.   I fell in love with it...but $100?  C'mon.... Someone's pricing was WAYYYY off - because it didn't look like this when I found it!

The top was completely destroyed.  The veneer on the doors was in decent condition, but the hardware was damaged and although it had been gutted on the inside, it had a huge hole in it!

A week later it was still sitting there - but now it was marked down To $19.99 and I jumped on it!  I literally jumped on it in the store and hollered "Woo Hoo... This SHALL BE MINE!".    (Okay, well that's how it went down in my head, anyway!)

I decided to challenge myself by "shopping" my own craft supply....to see if I could make something...anything....for FREE......  A big thank you to Laura at The Turquoise Home for this awesome "Scrappy" Idea!    Only using what I had on hand I was able to put together this cute piece of wall art for my powder bath.  A "Scrappy Sea Horse Silhouette" on burlap and mounted on a piece of scrap wood.

My Goodwill Fall Tablescape for under $10

Fall was in the air a few days ago... We had thunder, lightning, rain and cooler temps.... But, today it's back up into the mid-80's and low to mid 90's are in the forecast for the rest of the week.   This was definitely a very good summer, weather-wise,  up here in the Pacific Northwest and it's not over yet....

 

but I REALLY, REALLY want fall to come....

I actually had a table exactly like this about 15 years ago. So who knows, perhaps this is my old one. Regardless, lately I have found myself on the lookout for a pedestal table "just like the one I used to have"......

God Bless Texas - Subway Art - Silhouette Portrait Project #8

My 10 year old son wanted to do an "art project" with me.  He told me didn't care WHAT we did..... AS LONG AS HE COULD USE THE CUTTER.... The Silhouette Portrait - that is. 

 

I've been wanting to make some Subway Art - so we combined his love for all things "TEXAS" with the "CUTTER" and here's the result.  This was almost a FAIL....but in the end, we saved it.

When I set out to create something, I like to get the biggest bang for my buck, so to speak.  You could say I'm thrifty.  Or frugal.  Or you could even say that I am fiscally responsible in these matters.  But that all sounds like the equivalent of putting lipstick on a pig....
