God is GREAT and this year I have so much to be thankful for. I count each of you that take the time to read my little 'ole blog as a blessing! So thank you, thank you, thank you....
I was recently contacted by a client who asked me to create a chalkboard print sign for her using the prayer, "God is good, God is Great..." I wanted to share with you the process I used to do this.
First, I created a printable. I use Picasa and/or PicMonkey to create mine, although you can use any photo-editing software to create your print. You can also skip that step and do a search in Google or Pinterest for "free printables". You'll be amazed at the wide selection and variety that people have created and graciously shared online.
I took the .pdf file to FedEx/Kinkos on a thumb drive and had it printed on 11x17 inch heavy cardstock. Then, at Home Depot, I had a 1x12 cut down to 18" sections. For 8 x 10 prints - see attached diagram:
After selecting the correct size wood -
the technique for creating the sign is as follows:
Paint the wood on both sides and let dry.
Use a spray adhesive and generously spray the entire back of the cardstock. Lay on the painted wood and center. Use a clean, dry cloth to remove any adhesive around the edges.
Once completely dried spray the entire thing with laquer. Use care to spray in sweeping motions, in the same direction. I move from top to bottom and spray side to side. Let dry. Finally, nail decorative furniture brads into each corner for a finished look.
Here is the finished project, sitting on a table, leaning up against the wall.
Here is an 8 x 10 I created using the same technique.
You can attach a saw tooth hanger to the back - although I prefer to hang with 3M Command Strips, or simply lean up against a wall.
I love this prayer and now sell it in this size in my Etsy Shop, along with other Bible verses. I'll be adding more, using this technique in the coming weeks.
Thank you for reading and I wish for each of you and safe and blessed Happy Thanksgiving!
What a GREAT project! I'm a new follower stopping by from Fluster Muster's Creative Muster. :-)
