Silver Dipped Stools with a Sweet, "TWEET", Seat!

Look at the cute Silver Dipped Stools I painted over the weekend using my Silhouette Portrait!

I've been debating what to do with these stools for some time now.   They are much needed and highly functional for our space - but they were completely dated looking.  

Replacing them wasn't  an option, because that's not in the budget - so paint them it was!  I've had a creative block for some time trying to decide how to paint them though.  

Then, while cutting this bird on my Silhouette Portrait for another project it all came together.... 

I decide to stencil these on the seats and "dip the legs" in paint - or at least give it that effect.

 

I chose this color for my base:

 

 

And sprayed them everywhere, without worrying too much about the entire seat or the bottoms of the legs. 

 

 

 

I then lifted my stecil (cut onto black contact paper) with clear contact paper and stuck it to the seat.

 

  

 

After rubbing the contact paper well with a credit card I pulled the clear contact paper off and the black contact paper birds were left.

 

 

I then taped off the legs with painter's tape and covered the top of the legs with plastic bags...

(hey, it's all I had!)

 

 

Oh so fancy....

I then sprayed my silver...(check out those rocks....oops!)

And finally..... when the silver dried and the plastic bags and painter's tape were removed:

I love them!!!

 

 

They turned out EXACTLY as I had envisioned.....

and that's always a great feeling!
