Dumpster Diving for GOLD!

What's a girl to do when she finds out Chippendale Chairs are going into the trash because the seats are ugly, stained, ruined?

Well, she RUNS, of course to that dumpster and pulls them out!

Are you kidding me?
Why on earth would anyone throw two of these chairs (solid mahogany) into the trash?
I'm guessing the stained pink shell motif on the seat covers is why....  More on these later...

First this....
This was pulled out of same said dumpster.

Just because of a missing seat?  That's an easy fix, but first....some gray chalk paint.

I then used a black antique glaze to make those great details pop and created a seat out of plywood which was easy to cover.

Beautiful, isn't it?

Here's the AFTER picture of the other two chairs.  Painted white and then glazed brown.  The reupholstering took a bit longer on these, but well worth it!

Not too shabby for a dumpster dive.

What do you think?
